Good afternoon/ morning. We’re back with the second edition of the newsletter. If you haven’t read the first edition discussing the best clothes for the course, I’d recommend you check it out here.
I’ve experimented with many shoes over time. I’ve worn Adidas, Tomo, Footjoy, TrueLinks, etc etc. To what avail? I noticed a pattern in my purchases over the past few years. I would wear my footjoys out, try something new, and then immediately go back.
Why are golf shoes important? Well, if you followed my advice in the first article, you’d know that we’re focused on curating a classic and timeless look that can be taken to any golf course in the world, and the shoes play a big role in that.
Wearing low top Jordan 1s to Pine Valley? Yea right. You won’t be invited back.
Without further ado, here is my list of proper golf shoes:
The King, FootJoy
We have a few options when exploring the king of golf shoes, the premier and the hyperflex. If you prefer a more traditional look, the premier is your choice. If you like the functionality of a more technical shoe, go with the hyperflex. Make sure they are predominantly white. No weird colors or black in the summer.
Solid Options- Adidas, GFore
Adidas makes a solid golf shoe. I’ve worn the Tour360 a few times, and in my book its the only close competitor to the Premiers. They aren’t super breathable, so be wary of long summer rounds in these.
GFore makes a lot of weird shoes, so stick with the Pebble Leather Gallivanter if buying a pair from them. Although they are comparable to the Premiers, they have a modern feel that tells your playing partners you are certainly newer money.

TRUE linkswear - I had a pair of the Lux Mavens and was underwhelmed by them. The price does not reflect the quality, and the other cheaper models were not waterproof. They give you a nice feel and connection to the ground, but they are not even close to the level of FJ.
Nike - 99% of Nike golf shoes are for 7 hour municipal rounds. The pair linked are the only ones that you could get away with at nicer private clubs. Even then, better to go no brand logos as a rule of thumb.
Puma - Very surprised to see a nice looking shoe from Puma here, do I need to buy and test it out? Very clean, no obnoxious logo… Hmmm
Payntr - I’ve heard great things, but have never owned a pair myself. Stick with the traditional look of the Eighty Seven SC.
Stick with the basics. White golf shoes go with any outfit. And the premiers paired with well fitting HB or PM? Yep that will play anywhere in the world.
